ABOUT THE AREA
THE HISTORY
In our area in the 1930s, there were mainly two jobs available to those who settled here: crops/farming and the railroad/coal industry. These industries were massively successful, as the area had an abundance of these materials and offered a perfect environment in which to thrive. At its peak, there were, at one time, about 250,000 union workers.

As time continued and a decade or so had passed, our energy sources shifted, and many of the positions in these industries became obsolete. Diesel fuel and cars became the new prospect. However, in the following years, our area would see a new surge of jobs from power plants. Coal and electricity changed these areas; their impact affected not only the jobs available in the area but also the lives of those who resided here, effectively and positively altering the community as a whole.

We aim to honor those who worked tirelessly to provide us with the opportunities we have today, while creating abundant routes for those who follow us in the future, just as we were given. We have exciting potential plans to ensure the history of our area and those who toiled for it are always remembered. Follow us on or join our journey to a new tomorrow.
